Even though most of you use essential oils for massage, aromatherapy, and other spa treatments, scientists confirm that they also offer numerous health benefits and can help you treat various diseases.

There are hundreds of different essential oils and many of them have potent antibacterial properties.
Despite their healing qualities, they also effectively destroy viruses, bacteria, and fungi, and thus prevent infections. They are much safer than antibiotics and do not cause any adverse effects.
The report by the World Health Organization(WHO), the most severe health issues worldwide are actually a result of years of excessive and careless antibiotic abuse, and their use in animals raised for meat and milk.
Therefore, switching to natural remedies is the right thing to do in order to prevent health issues and support overall health.
These are the most powerful antibacterial essential oils:
1.Thyme Essential Oil
This essential oil has strong antiseptic, antibacterial, antispasmodic, and calming qualities.
The University of Tennessee’s Department of Food Science and Technology analyzed its effects against bacteria in milk and salmonella, and it was found that its “nanoemulsions” protect the body against bacteria, by using it as an antimicrobial preservative for food.
It treats infections, drains congestion, cures upper respiratory conditions, and relieves a cold, and flu. It also has potent detoxifying effects.
This essential oil is also great in the case of gout, wounds, fatigue, arthritis, menstrual, pre-menopausal and menopausal symptoms. Studies conducted at the Babol University of Medical Sciences in Iran showed that it relieves menstrual pain and cramps even more successfully than ibuprofen.
All you need to do in order to use its antibacterial qualities is to place a few drops into the diffuser, or add several, drops to steaming hot water and inhale.
  1. Tea Tree Essential Oil
This oil is also known as melaleuca oil, and it comes from the leaves of the tea tree, or Melaleuca plant. This plan is native to Australia, and the Aboriginals have used it for hundreds of years as an antiseptic.
They used to crush the leaves of the tea tree, and applied them directly to the cuts, wounds, and infected areas. Back in the 1920s, the chemist Arthur Penfold published a series of papers on its antiseptic properties, and it became popular all around the world.
This oil is the only one of the antibacterial, antiviral, and antimicrobial essential oils that can be applied directly to the skin, without the need to dilute it first. It is commonly used in the case of acne, warts, eczema, and psoriasis.
Numerous studies have confirmed the amazing effects of the tea tree oil. A 2004  scientific review found that it effectively destroys bacteria, and it treats infections like methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and might be used as an adjunctive treatment for wounds.
Another 2013 study estimated its effects on wounds infected with the superbug Staphylococcus aureus, and it was found that it heals them significantly faster than conventional treatments.
To treat fungal infections, toenail fungus, and athlete’s foot, apply it directly on the area.
To alleviate head or chest congestion, colds, flu, or stuffed up nose, use it in a diffuser or a nebulizer. Steam inhalation will also fight bacteria and clear congested nasal passages, so just add a few drops of tea tree oil to a pot of steaming hot water, and breathe in the vapors for 5 minutes.
  1. Bergamot Essential Oil
Despite its pleasing scent, this essential oil offers potent antibacterial properties. It has been commonly used in Italy for years as a natural treatment for intestinal worms, to soothe muscle tension, headaches, and heal scars.
It is especially good at fighting bacteria like endocarditis, and meningitis, and treat urinary tract infections. It is also very helpful in the case of herpes, mouth ulcers, cold sores, and acne.
In the case of urinary tract infections, rub it diluted in some carrier oil onto the abdomen and throat, and add a few drops to your diffuser.
  1. Cinnamon Essential Oil
This is one of the strongest antibacterial essential oils of all, and a 2006 study conducted out of Loyola College’s Entomology Research Institute in Chennai, India, showed that it effectively treats various bacteria types, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumonia, Bacillus subtilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosin.
The Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice published a study which evaluated its effects against “planktonic E. faecal” in a root canal procedure, and it was found that it eliminated bacterial growth after seven and 14 days of the procedure.
To treat mouth bacteria, you can make homemade toothpaste with cinnamon essential oil, and add it to the diffuser to purify the air and kill off airborne bacteria.
If you combine it with other antibacterial agents like clove, tea tree, or eucalyptus oil, it will destroy nearly 99% of airborne bacteria in just minutes.
  1. Clove Essential Oil
The powerful clove essential oil effectively treats a toothache, and this use of the oil was first documented in 1640.
Yet, it is believed that it has been used in homeopathic treatments for more than 2 millennia. Due to the high eugenol content, it is a potent natural remedy for numerous health issues.
A test which analyzed the effects of 21 essential oils against bacteria like E. coli, it came out second, only to cinnamon.
To treat a toothache, just add one drop onto a cotton ball and press it onto the affected area for up to 15 minutes. It also eases the symptoms of asthma, respiratory issues, a cold, and cough.
  1. Oregano Essential Oil
Oregano has strong therapeutic antibiotic effects, and the ancient Greeks used its antibacterial and disinfecting qualities to treat wounds and bacterial infections on the skin.
Its antibacterial properties control even staph infections, and it also offers antioxidant, antiseptic, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects.
Science Daily published 2001 study conducted at the Georgetown University, which found that its germ-killing properties are nearly as effective as most antibiotics.
It’s especially effective in the case of conditions like foot and nail fungus. Just pour a few drops in a small tub of water and soak your feet in it, or dilute it in a carrier oil and apply it directly on the affected area.
To relieve sinus infections, place a few drops of oregano essential oil into steaming water, and inhale the vapors.
  1. Lemongrass Essential Oil
Lemongrass essential oil inhibits bacteria growth both externally and internally, and since it is high in limonene and citral, it effectively fights body odor, bacterial infections, skin conditions, and even food poisoning.
It also boosts circulation, treats a backache, muscle spasms, and cramps. You can also use it as a natural skin cleanser, and rub it into the scalp to soothe headaches. To fight fungal infections and athlete’s foot, rub it onto your feet.
  1. Grapefruit Essential Oil
This natural antibiotic treats various infections. A study from the University of Texas showed that the antibacterial properties of this oil were comparable to “proven topical antibacterials.”
The International Journal of Food Science & Technology published another 2011 study which showed that it effectively kills strains of bacteria like Salmonella Typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermis, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Serratia marcescens, and Proteus Vulgaris.
Its antimicrobial properties kill microbes in the gut and kidneys and treat and prevent an infection in wounds and cuts. It also stimulates the bile production, supports endocrine function, encourages the production of gastric juices to help digestion, and makes you more alert.
To treat depression, headaches, and mental fatigue, and to help the lymphatic system cleanse the body of toxins, just inhale the vapors of grapefruit essential oil.
Yet, always make sure you use high-quality essential oils, organic, and 100% pure,  sourced from environmentally conscious growers, in order to use their optimal therapeutic benefits.
